Caviar Food Deliveries Will Transition To DoorDash: What Couriers Need To Know

DoorDash acquired Caviar in August of 2019. The acquisition was for $410 million in cash and stock.

For some time, the two brands were kept separate, but the pandemic hits, the food delivery industry saw significant shifts. Brands are all making business moves.

GrubHub sold to Just Eat Takeaway in June for $7.3 billion. Uber acquired Postmates in July for $2.65 billion.

One development in food delivery space is the phasing out of Caviar, which was own by Square since 2014 until it was sold to DoorDash.

Caviar Couriers will soon have to migrate over to DoorDash’s platform for delivery opportunities.

What Couriers Need To Know:

  • As of Monday, August, 17th, half of all Caviar delivery opportunities will be offered through DoorDash. By Monday, August 24th, all Caviar Deliveries will be offered on DoorDash’s Dasher App.
  • Caviar Couriers have the option to have a Dasher account created for them (couriers are currently receiving e-mails about this opt-in process)
  • By Monday, August 24th, all Caviar Deliveries will be offered on the Dasher App.
  • If you have an active Dasher account with DoorDash, you will be offered orders from both platforms until August 24th
